GEORGE PENTLAND BOTANIC GARDENS PLAYGROUND

Public BBQ

George Pentland Botanic Gardens Playground emerges as one of those delightful discoveries that manages to blend botanical beauty with practical family functionality. Nestled within the botanical gardens on Foot Street, this BBQ destination offers something increasingly rare: genuine tranquillity alongside proper facilities. The playground equipment harmonises surprisingly well with the surrounding native flora, creating an atmosphere where children's laughter doesn't feel out of place among the established trees. The barbecue facilities benefit from this natural setting, providing undercover areas that feel more like garden pavilions than typical park shelters. What strikes you immediately is the thoughtful maintenance - from the accessible car parks to the clean toilets and functioning water fountains. The duck pond adds an unexpected charm, though it does mean keeping an eye on adventurous toddlers. One practical note: the steel slides can become uncomfortably hot on warm days, and the playground does tend to favour older children. Still, the spacious grounds provide plenty of room for tag and general mayhem.
